This is me in my special car seat for road trips- it's very comfy & safe.

Okay, you guys probably know about our annual office trip that we take at the end of summer. The whole office goes- Dr. Brenda, Charlene, Mommy (Debbie) and of course, ME. Oh yeah, Daddy came with us- he was the driver, and Dyson (aunt Dr. Brenda’s boy dog) came along, too.

This year we decided to go to western North Carolina, in the Smoky Mountains in September. We rented a dog-friendly cabin (which Mommy told me was like a hotel, but for only us) that was on the side of the mountain. She didn’t tell me that there wasn’t any grass to potty on. That’s right, not just no GOOD grass- NO GRASS. Just gravel and red clay! OMG, where do I go poop?! How is this dog-friendly? This dog likes grass!!!

See- no grass. If you walk to the left- you fall!!

So, mountain life isn’t really for me, but the cabin was nice and clean. There was a big kitchen, which is important to store and fix my food. Mommy’s the best at that. So I guess it was alright.
Anyway, Mommy and my “aunts” bought back really pretty rocks that are all different smells. Mommy says they’re differnet colors, too, but I can’t tell that. She says that they are things called gems- rubies, sapphires, emeralds, whatever! I say they’re rocks. You can’t eat them, but they would look nice on a new collar or harness for me. Maybe for my birthday….
Daddy caught poison ivy while walking in the woods with Dyson, so he has to have medicine like I do when I get all itchy. Sorry, Daddy- I don’t walk in the woods, so you would have been safer with me.

All-in-all, I suppose we had fun. Dyson thought it was great, but he’s a boy, what does he know? Next trip, I vote for Disney or Miami or somewhere with better grass!

It rained alot!! Luckily, I was prepared.

Golf Trip!

Hotel beds are the softest!!!

Hotel beds are the softest!!!

It was Daddy’s birthday, so Mommy & I decided to take Daddy to this place where everyone loves golf. It’s called Champions Gate, it’s near Disney World, and the hotel is called the Omni. Guess what? The hotel is for dogs, too. Sometimes, I don’t get to meet many new friends when we travel, but here there were lots of doggy friends. Everyone was so welcoming, and they had really good grass to potty on (good grass is always a welcome sight).

We woke up early on that Saturday because Daddy had “an early tea time.” I don’t know why, because he doesn’t even like tea. Anyway, he went to play golf, so Mommy and I sat out on the balcony to look at the sky and grass and birds. Next thing I know, these really weird birds came by. Mommy called them hot air balloons. We watched them fly by, and then we went for a walk.

I napped the day away, but when Daddy came back- we all went to Disney for dinner and shopping. We had a great time, and I got some french fries as a treat!

Next month it’s off to the mountains! I’ll keep you posted.

It's so nice to have a balcony, what a view! Hey, what are those slow, round bird things going by???

Here at Costa d'Este poolside

Here at Costa d'Este poolside

Well, it’s been quite a while since I’ve posted anything on my blog, so I thought that I’d better catch you guys up.
Mommy, Daddy and I have been busy with work and such, but we still have time for fun. We all went to Vero Beach last September and stayed at Costa d’Este Resort. Boy was that fun! Lots of good latin music, a fabulous breeze from the ocean, and all the hotel staff were like my best friends. There were even some other dogs there, but I didn’t know them so I stayed with Mommy.
We went shopping in the area (all the shops were very friendly) and Mommy even bought me a strand of pearls- Lily’s Pearls- and proceeds from them go to pet charities. Isn’t that cool?
We also went to an outdoor concert on the beach- there were lots of dogs there, too, and they were all dressed up just like I was! Vero is a great vacation spot for us.

October brought a visit to Universal Orlando and Harry Potter. Mommy is a big Harry Potter fan (I really don’t understand it because he doesn’t have a dog or nothin’). I stayed at the wonderful Royal Pacific Resort while Mommy, Daddy, Aunt Charlene and Aunt Laurie went to the park. It was really hot outside, and I preferred to stay in bed and watch TV. I ordered room service that night- Chow Hound Chicken! Boy, was it yummy. I wonder if Emeril is their chef???

This summer we have plans to go to a resort outside Orlando, where my Daddy plays golf. I wish that I could play golf, too, but Mommy says I’m not allowed. I could get hit with a stick and that would be bad- so Mommy and I will go do something else (maybe shopping for new toys!!).
And in September, Dr. Ernest, Aunt Charlene, Mommy, Daddy and I are all going to North Carolina. Mommy says we’re going mining, I think that means going for long walks in the woods and mountains. I hope there aren’t ticks- they are so yucky!!!

Anyway- I keep you updated. Enjoy the summer. Cami

Weekend in Savannah

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

Hi, it’s Debbie and I’m taking this ride over!

Glenn (my husband), Cami (our pekingese) and I traveled to Savannah, GA this past weekend for my niece’s high school graduation.
This was Cami’s first road-trip and I have to say we were both a little nervous about it. We were staying at the Hilton DeSoto in the historic district (on Liberty Street for those of you familiar with Savannah), which is a very nice hotel that recently went pet-friendly. That area is truly spectacular if you are at all a history buff.
Anyway, the little dog had a great time- how much fun is it to walk in a beautiful oak shaded park every morning and go sightseeing and shopping in the afternoon??? Savannah is VERY dog-friendly!!
Many shops as well as cafes allow dog patrons, as long as they are properly dressed and mannered.

Navy is the new black this season, so for this trip Cami donned her navy/white “skipper” puppia to match my navy outfits for our time on the town. She was so cute- she got lots of attention from people, as well as meeting many other canine visitors- Sophia & Beau (King Charles Spaniels), George (Poodle Mix), Megan (German Shorthaired Pointer), Maggie (Min. Schnauzer) and 2 Australian Shepherds.
We even shared pork chops from the Pirate’s House, a famous Savannah restaurant (Cami thought they were the yummiest ever- I have to agree!).

Anyway, the trip went well. I am sure it is the first of many for Cami, I’ll keep you guys posted.
