Veterinary Services

Our Laboratory

We treat cats, dogs, ferrets, rabbits, and small rodents

Animal Diagnostic & Wellness Center offers a wide range of veterinary services. Our first priority is to help you keep your pet healthy. We will recommend appropriate vaccines and preventive medicines for your pet’s lifestyle.

We are also here for you when your pet becomes ill or injured. An accurate diagnosis is necessary at these times and our doctor will discuss with you all avenues of testing and treatment for your pet,. Often, this is a rapid and straight forward process. At times, some illnesses may be complicated and require more skill and time to resolve. Dr. Ernest has 30+ years of practice experience from which to draw. She also utilizes a wide database of colleagues to confer with for more challenging cases.  If your pet requires specialized equipment or a veterinary specialist, we will refer you to the facility best suited for your pet’s needs.

From routine vaccinations to complex medical cases, we do what we can to help your pet stay well.  Listed are a few of the services we provide..

Physical Exams

A complete examination will be performed from the nose to the tail. We will check the eyes, ears, teeth, heart & lungs, abdomen, coat, and look for signs of lameness or neurologic problems. As our pets age, we recommend an exam every 6months.

Vaccination

Vaccination schedules will be developed based on the pet's lifestyle and risk. We will discuss what, if any, vaccines your pet needs with you. It is not one fit for all.

Dentistry

Your pet's oral health is very important. Dental disease not only causes bad breath, it also causes pain and discomfort. Our dental services include dental scaling and polishing, tooth extractions, and minor oral surgery.

Surgery

Our surgical suite allows for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures. We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients.

Anesthetic Monitoring

Any pet under anesthesia requires constant monitoring. We have a dedicated veterinary technician taking readings from your pet throughout the procedure. We monitor heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen levels, carbon dioxide levels, blood pressure, and temperature.

Euthanasia

Making the decision to euthanize a pet is often harder than the loss itself. We try to make this time as comfortable as we can for you and your pet.  Please visit the saying goodbye page to help you with this difficult time.

Diagnostic Imaging

Our on-site X-ray provides high quality digital radiographs to aid in the diagnosis of many disorders. We also offer ultrasound scanning to look at your pet's abdomen and heart to provide better care.

 Ferrets, Rabbits & Small Rodents

In addition to taking care of dogs and cats, our doctor has many years of experience in treating these small mammals.  They are unique in their dietary and husbandry needs.  Unfortunately, these little pets don't have long lives and appropriate care is necessary in helping them live as long and as healthy as possible.

Laboratory Testing

Our in-house laboratory facilities allow for blood work, urinalysis, cytology, and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics.

Laser Therapy & Specialized Treatments

Cold laser therapy is useful for a wide variety of problems. These include arthritis, acute injuries, wounds and inflammation, and many more conditions.

Some pets require specialized treatments such as stem cell therapy and platelet rich plasma therapy or chemotherapy. We will discuss the pros and cons of each procedure and help you make the best choice for your pet.

Emergency Care and Specialist Referrals

During open hours we attempt to see all of our own patient emergencies when possible. If we feel it is in the best interest of your pet, we may direct you to an emergency facility. These are staffed 24 hours a day. You can find the listings under the EMERGENCIES section.

Our doctor has 30+ years of experience in diagnosing and treating diseases. At times, specialized knowledge or equipment is needed and we will refer your pet to a specialist to ensure the best care possible.

Hospital Stays

Occasionally, your pet will need to stay in the hospital.  We try to make the surroundings as comfortable as possible to reduce stress and enhance healing.  We do not have staffing 24 hours, so sometimes we may need to transfer your pet to an overnight facility if it is in your pet's best interest.
